Welcome to the WEB Conference 2021

Welcome to the 2nd International Women in Employment & Business (WEB) conference, and welcome to St Kitts-Nevis! The objectives of this innovative conference are three-fold. Firstly, in underlining the rights relating to the aim of gender equality, the United Nations (UN) states specifically with respect to women that “These rights include the right to live free from violence, slavery, and discrimination; to be educated; to own property; to vote; and to earn a fair and equal wage.” In pursuing these rights, the core idea for the WEB conference is that education and empowerment in employment and business are inextricably linked – education empowers! Thus, it is our belief that education and empowerment intrinsic to this conference enable women to realize these rights in a seamless way.

Secondly, in pursuing these aims, we adopted the theme for this Conference as “Detox and Thrive: Sustaining Self and Business Post-Covid” and we are tremendously proud to share that this conference has reached a truly worldwide platform: from European Union and across the Americas. Thus, we can illustrate the strong connections that have emerged as a direct result of this conference; connections that give access to a younger generation of women to the global stage so that they can be exposed to new insights and knowledge for their personal and professional growth and development.  Ultimately from this conference, all participants will experience growth and development of their professional identities, their respective organisations and of the nation as a whole.

Lastly this conference models the true benefits of partnership to fulfill the humane goal of gender equality and female empowerment.  We have certainly partnered with an international community of prominent, female business women and traditional educators each armed with contemporary global educational strategies as well as inspirational personal stories of success and resilience.  We have also activated partnerships between prominent men and women as well as between youth and   experience. Partnerships across our Federation; across the Caribbean region; across the Atlantic; across the business and public sectors; across professions and across professional groupings; and notably partnerships with social activists across the domain of politics.

We are delighted that you have chosen to join our journey towards gender …welcome aboard!

The 2nd Women in Employment & Business (WEB2) Virtual Conference hosted by Windsor University School of Medicine, St Kitts on 27th August exceeded all expectations! We are delighted with the feedback we have received.  Although it was 18 months in the making, we did it!

Our objectives were met:

Firstly, with regard to the rights relating to the aim of gender equality, The United Nations (UN) which states specifically with respect to women that “These rights include the right to be educated....and to earn a fair and equal wage.” we can confirm that the feedback so far unanimously attests to the educational potency of the conference. All participants who provided feedback expressed that they had experienced growth and development both personally and professionally.  These gains will be transmitted to their respective organisations with a knock-on benefit for the nation as a whole.

Secondly, with regard to the conference theme...“Detox and Thrive:  Sustaining Self and Business Post-COVID” we can share with you that this conference has sewn the seeds for female employees, managers and business owners alike to consider their long-term goals and skills’ development and to  consider “all aspects of my life” as one of the participants stated: physical health, intellectual, psychological; domestic and working life.   With regard to giving access to a younger generation of women to the global stage and exposing them to new insights and knowledge for their personal and professional growth and development.  We are pleased to announce that ten young women were able to register with the kind support of the Business & Professional Women St Kitts Chapter.

Lastly, the conference modeled the true benefits of partnership to fulfill the humane goal of gender equality.  We established powerful partnerships with an international community of prominent, female business women and traditional educators; partnerships between prominent men and women as well as between youth and experience. The partnerships extended across our Federation; across the business and public sectors; across professions and across professional groupings; and notably partnerships with social activists across the domain of politics.

We're proud to launch: LEADING THROUGH COACHING BOOK

Synopsis

Leading through Coaching, seeks to raise the profile of coaching and proposes strategies and tools for assisting managers and other leaders with drawing out and building upon the strengths of their teams. The book recommends a shift by leaders  to a ‘nurturing and supporting’ approach for fostering performance excellence.

Embracing a framework of ‘Identifying Goals’, ‘Reviewing Progress’, ‘Stating Options’, and ‘Agreeing Action Plans’ (IRSA), the ‘IRSA’ model highlights critical steps in the coaching process and recommends strategies and easy-to-use coaching tools. The book proposes a practical approach to developing and facilitating the leadership of individuals and ultimately that of the organisation.
